Phonetics and orthoepy: the sounds of the Spanish phonologic system, pronunciation, change of the meaning in an utterance according to the adopted intonation pattern.

Ortography: the alphabet, the accentuation, the use of the graphic accent.

Morphology and syntax: The morphological aspects of the noun, adjective, adverb, pronouns and prepositions. Morphology and syntax of the verb in Spanish. Form and use of tenses in indicative: present, past simple tense (el pretérito perfecto simple), the conditional. Verbs with prepositions. Contrast in use of the verbs ser/estar/haber. Particular phrasal verbs.

Vocabulary: basic vocabulary, linked to selected thematic fields in textbook.

Communicative functions: as specified in the descriptors for A1 and A2 levels (according to the selected textbook).

Receptive and productive skills: Oral and written comprehension of short, clear and straightforward texts, linked to everyday topics and social interactions. Production of simple and functionally-oriented written and oral messages.

Society and culture: Familiarization with basic civilization-cultural aspects of Spain and Latin America.
