Welcome to the ID-TS Student Conference in Tampere in April 2019!

Tampere University will host the XVII Symposium for Translation and Interpreting Studies on 12-13 April 2019. On 11 April the ID-TS Network and Langnet  (the Finnish national network for PhD training in language studies) will organize a joint training session and writing workshop. During the conference itself,  the 2019 KäTu poster session will be organised in cooperation with the ID-TS network. We are aiming at an interactive poster event which can be a fruitful networking opportunity for PhD students and other early-career researchers. An award for best poster will be given.

The preliminary programme of the session is as follows:

Time: Noon-4 PM
Training: lecture by Prof. Kaisa Koskinen on public translation studies and on finding your motivation in PhD work (1 hour)
Workshop: commentary and feedback on pre-submitted draft papers in small groups (2 X 1 hour plus coffee)

To enroll in the ID-TS workshop please sign up at https://elomake3.uta.fi/lomakk... by Friday, 18 January 2019. The papers (a draft chapter, article, research plan etc. of approximately 10 pages) will be sent at a later stage to mary.nurminen@uta.fi. More information on how to prepare for the workshop and how to access materials will be sent closer to the event.

In addition to the workshop, the ID-TS event will include a poster and networking session in conjunction with the symposium (on Friday evening). If you only wish to present a poster you can signal this in the e-form, but it surely makes sense to combine the workshop and the symposium. This will require a separate registration to the symposium itself. The CFP for the symposium is already out. Proposals for workshops are to be submitted by Friday, 16 November 2018, and proposals for presentations and postersby Friday, 18 January 2019. See https://katu-symposiumi.com/fi...

Participation for the ID-TS events (lecture, workshop and poster session) is free of charge to all members of the network. The symposium fee will be approximately 70 euros.

On behalf of the ID-TS team,
Kaisa Koskinen
