The course aims to provide understanding of in-depth knowledge on contemporary theoretical and methodological achievements in the field of social / cultural anthropology. It is designed so that the students gain knowledge on the latest developments in the discipline – as well as understanding of how these trends developed – while they also actively participate in focused discussions, during which key literature is addressed. By reading contemporary ethnographic works students are also introduced to the methods and style of ethnographic writing. In addition, the course provides the students with information on the recent methodological and research trends.
The course is based on readings and reviewing the latest volumes of selected anthropological journals and ongoing scrutinizing of the most high-profile recent monographs.
