In its first part, the subject contains an overview of the main theories of sciences given in the archaeological expert writings (Popper, Kuhn, Hempel, verificationism etc.), an overview of the hermeneutic and phenomenological interpretation development in archaeology. In the second part, topics from the main archaeological epistemological and interpretative approaches are presented: nomothetic-deductive epistemology and middle-range theory in the American new archaeology, postmodern theories in archaeology, discourse on the archaeology of genders, nationalistic discourse in archaeology.
